The Midwest Child Welfare Implementation Center entered into a collaborative agreement with Iowa DHS to help implement the Parent Partner Approach statewide. The Parent Partner Approach comprises these engagement strategies:
- Parent Partners are mentors who have had previous involvement with the child welfare system and have been successfully reunified with their child for at least a year. Parent Partners work with families needing mentoring and support who are in the Iowa child welfare system.
- The Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS) draws on the skills and experiences of these Parent Partners to infuse the parents’ perspective into policy, practice and programs.
MCWIC and DHS collaboratively developed a project work plan and logic model to guide this implementation project. This webinar will explore those initial planning stages and early project activities. Presenters will discuss their experiences, including accomplishments and lessons learned thus far. They will discuss the implementation framework being used to evaluate the project.
